Rob,

That looks familiar, ever been to Kansas City? Back when I worked on the mainframe computer side of the house, we had a couple racks that looked almost that bad. Luckily everything was labeled and only three of us were allowed to touch anything. We had a raised floor and when you pulled up a tile it looked like that under the floor too, only the wires were about an inch thick.

Rampage,
you really should get over to see the gang at Little Talbot on the 11th.
Bet you will get some great ideas for the build and meet some great people too!

Scott,

Yeah, but its been awhile...

I've seen a few messes like that, only in 12 Volt, what a pain to straighten out.

Then I learned not to buy cars from teenagers that installed their own radio's...

Woooow, That wiring job must have been done by the I.B.E.W. I've got a head ache just looking at it. I think my wiring came out pretty good concidering. Jack, you wired it just fine.........

The worst part about working under the floor; if you pulled one of those big fat wires too hard, you unplugged something very important on the other side of the room. Don't ask how I know that, I'm still denying it.

Fiber optic bus and tag conversions eliminated the need for all that rat pack of cables under the raised floors in most data centers. Expensive but worth it.

Tony,
They got rid of our mainframe before fiber optics were that prevalent. Instead of one big computer now we have racks of servers. I don't even know how many. I'm not working in that area now but I can't believe it's easier to maintane all those servers then one mainframe.

Dhazard,
I really like seeing nice neat cabling like that. I'm afraid I've only seen it in pictures. By the way, my wife is in the I.E.B.W. but I'm not going to let her wire anything.

The green wire is part of an audio routing system for a TV station. The Yellow wire is the back of the video router, 256 inputs 128 outputs… :?
