(Super simple electrical) HELP.

Postby Modstock » Sun Mar 03, 2019 3:43 pm

I did the super simple electrical and wanted to know if I did this right???
Just 3 wires. How hard could it.
I hooked up two 3 plug outlets (one with 2 usb).

And this is what I get with my tester.

Pic#1 galley plugs.
I get the 2 orange light's but the middle is dim.

#2) interior outlets w/usb.
No power till I turn the switch on.
Then I get the red, blank, orange on.
Hot/ground reverse.

And when it's switched on the (galley plug) does the same.

School me if I did something wrong or can I run it like this ???

There are four parts to your circuit:

the house outlet
the extension cord
the thru wall connector to power strip
the power strip(s)

Start testing from the outlet. Now is the house outlet or the extension cord is reversed, then you are good.

If the issue is that you chained the power strips together and the end one is not working -- it might explain why it is so inexpensive.

I would still check from the wall.

Fixed;;;;;; it turns out my tester was hard to put into the extension cord to test that. I used some pliers and squeezed the middle prong a tiny bit to taper it, also on the adapter and now the plug fits great and no issues now.

Sometimes it's the most simplest of things.ImageImageImage
