Hi Tim,

In this case I am looking to remove material instead of adding. I can't slide the tire free or mount the tire because of interference with the 2 bolts. It would actually help if I could knock off a little of the bolt length but it probably wouldn't be enough to give the clearance I need.

What I am thinking is that I would like to cut off a little length to the horizontal mount and have it welded again.

I have a simple thought. If it is the bolts that stop the Tyre removal, remove the welded on bolts. Drill holes in the backing plate in the same spot and use ordinary bolts. Then once you have undone the nuts you can get the bolts out of the way.

Edgeau: That sounds like a great idea!

It may be a bit tricky to remove the welded on bolts but otherwise that would give all the clearance I would ever want.

I then would go to the local hardware store and find a replacement bolt and possibly a washer to tighten the opened up gap.

Thanks a lot!
