Wire run Question

Postby waterguy1111 » Fri Jan 15, 2021 12:36 pm

I am in the process of running my DC wire from my Convertor (back by the galley) to my battery(up front). I have a nice run for my wire above my solid aluminum flatbed trailer between two 1*6's and below my 3/4 inch plywood floor. Do you think I need anything like wire protector sleeve? I cant see this wire moving at all. Thoughts??

It will move, since it will be between 2 non-conductive surfaces ( wood) the chance of a short is low, but there is risk that the pos will short with the neg. I would make sure the pos and neg are attached to each other ( reducing the chance for rubbing. and make sure you have a fuse or circuit breaker on both ends of that positive wire.

I don't see this much differently than a Romex run in an interior wall.

As long as it is contained inside a wooden structure (or well supported) and away from metal, it should be fine. The only place I used loom is on the trailer chassis.
