Brain trust help - getting power inside

Postby philpom » Tue Oct 25, 2022 6:21 pm

I was ready to start wiring DC power from the tongue battery box in to the inside for the various power ports, fan etc and then I started to ponder it (as I always do when I need to put a hole in the camper. AC power was easy, purchased a sealed inlet port.

Was thinking about going through the front wall down low behind the box and then I thought, "what about going through the floor?".

Best option and how would you seal it up? I need 4 pairs or 8 wires total of 12 AWG stranded to pass through.

Thanks!

I run exterior wires to the galley bulkhead through the floor and up a 1/2" PVC pipe that's about a foot long then seal both ends for water intrusion.
So far no leaks.

I would go through the floor.

Just use sealant and some type of strain relief near the penetrations.

If you're super worried about sealing, then epoxy some bulkhead connectors in place. Nothing can get through a hole that doesn't exist.

I generally bring those runs into the cabin or galley through the floor in a concealed area and seal the hole with PL3 adhesive.

I like the vinyl tubing from the box to the floor idea, sounds fool proof. A nice tight fit, some sealant on the tube before I press it in the floor hole and it will never leak.

Thanks for the replies!
