Connect Renogy suitcase is simple, but ...

Postby DesertApprentice » Mon Sep 18, 2023 12:40 am

I got a 200w renogy suitcase https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B07RFQVB9M, i installed a wall SAE port https://www.amazon.com/dp/B082WNVQ9T
I thought everything would be plug-and-play from here. Well, it's sort of yes, but I'm really irritated by a few things. I'm looking for some advise here:

1. In the 1st green circle, you can see wire colors are reversed. By the time the electricity comes out the 2nd circle (SAE connector side), red is negative, and black is positive. What's more insane is when I plug it into the SAE port on the wall, the polarity is reversed again! So, the black that goes into the wall actually connects to the red positive. Everything does work, but the wire colors are all messed up! I think I'll just live with the wrong colors. Has anyone experienced similar issues?

2. In the 3rd circle, it shows the original Renogy charging cables that come with a fuse on the red wire (positive) towards the alligator clamp. I don't have that fuse with the SAE cable. Should I add a fuse to the SAE cable? If I do, should I add it inside the wall, right before the battery terminal? If I don't, what is the risk?

3. another question, for the charging extension cable, I'm thinking of 20 ft 10 awg total, is that a good length for teardrop?

Thank you in advance!
