Going from Texas to Indiana puts you right on track for using the Natchez Trace Parkway. It is 2 lanes, 50MPH speed limit, two free campgrounds, no commercial trucks, and over 300 miles with no traffic lights or stop signs. The campground we stayed at on the parkway had restrooms, but no showers, and no hookups. We ran the parkway from Jackson, MS to Nashville, TN in March '12 and it was a good ride. There was almost no traffic that time of year.

Zephyrhills to Halifax was a lot of fun for an old coot like me. Tacoma pulled great even in the mountains. Average mpg 21.7. It was cold an rainy most of the way.
