Vestibules....

I'm trying to think of some kind of vestibule to make, that would provide a place to take shoes off and on undercover for entering the TD in bad weather.

I have an EZ-Up canopy, but I want to have something small, that I can stow away, and just put up when the weather calls for it.

Anyone else done this?

Hi,

On a former tear we used an inexpensive plastic tarp, silver colored of course...and a snap kit.
We attached snaps to the tear and the tarp, then used a couple tent poles and a little rope.
The tarp starts at the hatch, and goes all the way to the bottom front of the tear.
It required cutting the tarp and using small rivets to "sew" it back together, but it gave us a 3 sided room.
Cost about $15.00.

How about a pop up hunting blind. They can be had for as little as $59.00. Waterproof and fold down to backpack size. Lightweight because they are meant to pack in with other gear. The only drawback (not for me, I'm a hunter) is that it would be camoflage. Here is one:

I had one made. It's 3 sided and snaps to the teardrop along the roof, uses 2 tent poles and a couple of ropes with stakes. All 3 sides roll up and also fasten together down the corners.

I like the homemade ones by 48Rob and toypusher. They provide a transition area from the weather into the TD. I need to put on my thinkiing cap and try to make something similar.

Gives you privacy when you open the door in the morning, a place for the portipotti and if it rains it's big enough (8x8) for a couple of chairs and a table. It can also be used attached to the hatch and galley if need be.
