If you use the wirrley pop pan try using the oil from your hot peppers-now that makes some kickipoo popcorn, with cold beer the lies around the campfire just fly!!!!!!

Totally late to this discussion but still willing to add my 2 bits...

A while back I was shopping in the dollar section of Target when I ran across some Jiffy Pop. Thought it would be fun for camping so I picked up a couple. When I got to the checkout the gal there looked at the Jiffy Pop, looked at the instructions and said "geez do ya think it would really work?" I said "sure, just as well as in a kettle on top of the stove." Silence.......and a deer in the headlights look followed.

Hey, I have one of those also. It rocks. Except..I don't like popcorn :(

Mary K, I have one of those at home. I need to get a new one since the oil is getting hard to clean off.

We got one for our son in college and one for home too.
They do work great and should be perfect for the camp fire.

The Jiffy Pop was one of my favorite things as a kid. We had always made " old fashioned" popcorn but Mom tried JiffyPop and it seemed to work very well. Well, that is until we burned the first batch, then it was back to the pot on the stove. Never really liked that burned taste.

I've made pop corn in the DO before but you have to pay atention all the time. Kind of a delayed reaction with the heat build up in the iron.

cheesey popcorn

Sometimes when I make popcorn I add a little of butter and use the packet of cheese from mac and cheese. Yum :)

Or you can shake red chile powder, or garlic powder or...

Yum.

You can't do any better than Jiffy Pop :)

Unless you have a microwave and can do Orville Redenbacher's or Act II.

That's real great popcorn as well.

Since from Omaha I guess I have an interest in all three.

I have one of those too. They make one for the campfire with a longer handle. No mixer, you need to shake it like the old time poppers..

Your supposed to clean off the oil??
