We have had no success in traveling with eggs.

Any suggestions on keeping all eggs whole?

We keep them in their original carton, in the little shelf that came with our ice chest. Have never broken one.

There is a special reusable plastic egg carton that you can buy in sports and camp-related stores for camp trips. It holds 1 dozen eggs. Since I've been using mine, I haven't had any eggs break (unless I wanted them to).

You an also carefully crack them into a tall, narrow plastic container. When you need one you just carefully pour one out. Unless you shake the container they will stay separated. It also save a lot of room in the cooler.

They come in 2, 6 and 12 egg sizes. I got the 2 egg one at rei. we don't use a lot of eggs. . Available practically anywhere, wallyworld, rei, any sporting goods/camping store.

I have been campin since i was 5 yrs old....My Dad used to just scramble em and put em in a tupperware cotainer. You can scramble em or ya can just cook em like an omelet. I have one a them plastic egg holders...the darn thangs DO NOT fit in it !!!!
I jus pour em all into the tupperware and pour em out as needed...

I know you were askin bout keepin em WHOLE..but I never had good luck with that .

That is the exact one that I tried to use...of course, MY eggs were straight from the chicken and were S..M..and L size...maybe that was my problem.

I actually got the plastic case at a yard sale fer CHEAP...I think a quarter.

when it didn't work, I jus went to the tried and true way that dear ol Dad did it fer YEARS !!!

I just crack them and put them all into one glad bowl ~ when you go to use them, they slide out nicely one at a time and stay together.

If I'm making brownies, in the bowl I put the required eggs removed from the shell and the measured oil all in one container.

Same with pancakes.

Works like a charm.

I've been described as a servivalist cook...I jus cook to survive...nuthin fancy !

I have been trying to use the yellown container and it is not working. I placed it in the shelf of the cooler.

The storage bowl idea sounds like it may work.

I leave them in the carton and have travelled some rough backroads without breakage. Makes me wonder how you are packing the cooler. I've even had the cardboard get wet and never broken an egg.

I have been using the yellow plastic container and placing in the shelf of the cooler. The cooler is in the teardrop.

The camp egg carton fits regulated sizes of small, medium, and large eggs but it may not fit the extra large or off-sized eggs.

While not a pretty, unprocessed whole egg, another alternative is to get the canned powdered eggs that are sold in some health food stores and health section of upscale grocery stores. I use powdered egg whites all the time, saving on cholesterol. This saves a little on space, too.
