and i want to put a spigot on it so I don't have to hold it when I am filling the pan I heat water in for doing dishes. Has anybody done this? Any "gotchas"?

Never done it but it looks like the double wall becomes one at the point the spigot is on the cooler. I'll bet you could drill it out, throw it away and get a brass or PVC valve that would screw in or even be able to have a nut on the other side. With a little Silicon sealer It should hold good.. or not?

I've changed the spigots out on lots of jugs that I use. There are plenty of websites that sell flip spigots, brass spigots, etc. If the same diameter, you can just go to whatever's the closest water mart you have that sells 5 gallon water jugs, they sell spigots too.

That does look weird in print, but any stand alone business dedicated to selling filtered and bottled water.

There is an actual chain called "Water Mart". I get my drinking water from the one on 40th St. and Thunderbird and the sell those size spigots.

Ahhh!

I buy Ice from a place that sells water. Never noticed anything there except water spigots (big ones, to fill bottles with) and ice. I'll have to check it out!

Thanks again! I hate standing around holding those little buttons in.

Yeah, those buttons don't feel good when it's freezing cold too.

I need to hit some yard sales. That is exactly what I am looking for in order to make my solar water heater. I am planning on switching out the push button for a full garden faucet. I'll watch how your conversion goes.
