Stuff you don't need

I've recently remodeled my galley, and I've set a goal to reduce or eliminate the stuff I have to carry in my bed area. I thought it might be fun to start a topic of the stuff you stopped brining on every trip ( or maybe stuff you should stop bringing).
For me, now that I have a 1gallon bulk propane tank I don't need 4 one lb bottles. ( I'll still bring one just in case)
I don't need the air conditioner for every trip ( see hacking a frigidaire in my future )
I probably don't need the 4 quart pot, but it's still in there.
I'm questioning whether I really need the Coleman propane lantern.

How about you?
Tom

Never never a microwave.... Took one to one gathering never again.

I have serious doubts about the toaster oven now that I do the biscuits in the dutch oven. So it will probably be left behind as well this season.

However I will still bring my red neck hot water heater as long as it is an AC equiped campsite. Its great to have hot water for beverages as well as dish cleanup.

What we take is tailored to the trip and conditions, the hacked Frigidaire is taken when we expect hot weather and will have 120V AC. This is basically the rule with many of the items in the, what to take or leave behind.
With AC
the electric fry pan
small electric coffee maker
the hacked Frigidaire
electric ceramic heater (when you don't need the above)
Left home the inverter

with out AC
French Press coffee maker
nonstick fry pan
take the inverter
Espar diesel heater (uses the same hose and ports as the Frigidaire)
Now we can use the water heater heater. Make sure the propane tank is full.

No propane lanterns. No telephones turned on. No tv.

I've been learning from my Boyscout brother ( his son got Eagle last year ), did away with cups and plate more to wash we use paper now and just burn it easy clean up. Mix eggs in a gallon ziploc no bowls to clean again fire does my clean up.
Been slowly doing away with stuff myself so when I get there set up is faster and teardown is quick.

I am planning to replace my plastic plates and cups for white porcelanized steel dishware, old school and they last for decades. the rest stays as it is. I have the bare minimums, a fantastic fan, a Coleman pro cat heater, that little heater has kept me warm and safe in deep Colorado winter, solar panel, 20 lb propane bottle that lets me cook for 45 days straight , two 6 gallon water jugs, LED lights....I can't think of anything else I would need.

Back in the day when we were tent camping with a growing family we picked up a Coleman Peak set that includes five SS plates pots and pans that all nest into one large pot. This is I think was aimed at outfitters.

I stop in at thrift stores and pick up some Correll plates and bowls. Cheap and I like them a lot better than the porcelain ware or other all metal ones. And I also pick up camping flat wear while there. Using paper and plastic just rubs me the wrong way and washing a plate and flat wear with the pots and pans is not all that hard. And I usually have enough that the last day or two I don't wash anyway just wait till I get home.

You might try one before you replace all your plates. We found that the porcelain steel tends to draw all the heat off the food and it gets cold quick. We went back to the plastic for that reason.

I may have to try that... I don't like plastic because it gets scratched easily when you cut stuff on the plates, and glassware breaks too...gack...tough choices coming my way...

I recently found a set I've been coveting. Its made of bamboo, natural, dishwasher safe, insultates the heat, and should last a good while.
They are on my list so I can cut out the paper plates and stuff.

I use the enamelware metal plates but put a paper plate on top. The metal plates make the food cold faster and the paper plates (the thin ones) fold in your lap. Combined they work great. I use insulated travel mugs with lids for hot beverages such as coffee, and these also work well if they are not see through to hide your beer from the park rangers. :D

Sounds good, except for the contradiction, "bio degradable" and "dishwasher safe".

I would be interested in a full report.
