Ken-Skil all the way baby.

Benroys are nice but too boxy for my tastes and I don't like the rear-end/half hatch on the cub/modernistics.

My opinion is for a beginner, like I was three months ago , the profile should be something easy to build, like maybe the Cubby, the Benroy, or the Ken-Skil.

My favorite is the Cub/Modernistic, but think it is too difficult to build for a beginner. (No offense intended Rocky, just my opinion.) As a matter of fact, the Cub/Modernistic is what I wanted when I got into this, but after looking at the profile and considering my capabilities, shyed away from it and designed my own profile that I felt more comfortable building.

As a beginner and a woman, I really like a combination of the Mechanic Illustrated Trailer for Two with more of a Kenskill or Benroy back end. This puts the cabinets closer to the edge of the back end making it easier for someone that is a bit on the shorter side to get to everything, while still keeping the profile relatively easy for a beginner to draw out. And maybe it is just me, since I have never built one before, but it seems much easier to rest the sides on the frame (as in the Mechanics Illustrated plans) as opposed to alongside the frames. Covering the frame definitely seems a bit more pleasing aesthetically, but it also seems more difficult to me. I am working from the Kuffel Creek Comet plans, but I intend to adjust the profile for the back end to make it easier to get to the cabinets (see my avatar).

The Cub/Mod is a really nice profile, but I have to agree with some others that it could be a bit tough for some without a lot of woodworking skills.
I also don't care for the half galley setup they have. The Kenskill just seems a little more user friendly for someone trying to to do this for the first time. It also gives a lot more room for galley mods and storage space.

As I am part way through building this profile I had to vote for it. It has its disadvantages, but I believe it is an original and it is the best looking of all of the shapes. I am building mine in a 10 by 4 configuration so it should have enough room for everything. The shape seems to be "natural" if that is the expression I am trying to think of. For me this was the one to build.

It's an internet version of the 'Wet paint' sign. Nothing too terrible, but apparently offensive to a few people. Of course most won't admit they have clicked on it until someone else fesses up first.
Nothing is going to explode if it's clicked on tho.

You just had to say that didn't you. I had to go in and see what you were talking about .

Oh and in my opion, the KIT or Benroy would be the best for the beginner. Simple in design and you can build it almost completely from your local hardware store. Nice clean & simple 4x8.

Onto other subjects.... It looks like the classic profiles are winning... and it looks like we are going to have to take the easiest features of all the classics to come up with a winner...

I did not vote for either one, but if it was just between the 2, I vote for the Kenskill. I do not care for the profile in the rear of the Benroy. I think the Kenskill has much better lines.

What do you think about a BenSkill....

That's a benroy shaped profile, sitting on top of a trailer, with the trailer sides exposed...

It can have any kind of fender you prefer, a kenskill fender, a round benroy fender, a jeep fender, whatever...

I vote for the Benroy over the Kenskill because I think it would have more usable floor space without the lower front being rounded. In an 8' trailer, the front curve wastes a lot of floor space. I was going tom make my Cub/Modernistic 8' but found that I didn't have much floor space left in the kitchen, so had to stretch it to 9'. Adding a foot to the length adds a lot of work for a beginner if they can't get 9' or 10' plywood.
