I found some interesting photos of suspension and steering suspension on a UK trailer website, our options are really limited here in the USA. http://www.secureonlineshopping.biz/andysmee/main.asp

If you've ever pulled a hay wagon you wouldn't want this under your trailer. Not bad at low speeds but it might prove deadly at highway speeds. Of course it tends to keep people from tailgating.

Rich,

From your comment, I'm guessing you think this axle hasn't got suspension - if you look closely next to the wheel, you'll see that there's a rubber torsion half-axle mounted under the steering pivot.

No, the suspesion's not the issue. When a short trailer steers at the front it tends to wander all over the road. When the tow vehicle turns a bend it magnifies the turn thru the trailer making it whip back and forth. Wheels in all 4 corners are not a good idea.

On the datasheet they claim that front wheels self center, to avoid the action you describe.
