Replacement bearings for the HF trailer needed!

Postby kirtsjc » Wed Aug 16, 2006 5:11 pm

I repacked mine at the time of installation as I didn't like the way they looked; glad I did because I squeezed almost a "whole" palm-full into each of them them! BTW, I hand-packed the way "my daddy done tautned me, he did, I learnt!" :?

Now, having called the HF customer support line to see if I could order a spare bearing and seal set, "those aren't available." Sheesh, why have a spare parts and support line if stuff is not available for current sales stock items.?!?!?! :x

So, will others that have an HF trailer, and know the bearing sizes and seal size please chime in? I really don't want to make my first road trip (load, distance and speed) without a spare. :worship:

Thanks!

I ordered a set from HF in March.

Here are the part numbers that were on the invoice.

Bearing #11239
$15.89

Seal #22736
$ 1.62

Dust cap #13922
$ 1.99

I called customer service 1-800-444-3353

I hope that helps.

You could always take a bearing or the numbers off the bearing to local "commercial" bearing supplier and have them cross referenced to some other brandname product.... Same for seal....

almost any automotive parts house should be able to sell you the bearing and race sets, and the seals. Most smaller axles use common sets. I've even found some at walmart

Your bearings should be marked with a number, which will tell you what size they are. For example, the ones shown in the HF catalogue are marked 30205, which is the seal measurement in millimeters - 30x20x5. However, I have the 990 lb folding trailer frame and the ones in mine are 31527 (31x52x7) so the replacement bearings won't work for me.

Thanks everybody!

Knowledge is power, and now I have the power to order parts "that are not available."

Maybe I just got a lazy CSR the last time I called...

Below is a link to a previous discussion about buying bearings and seals. I think you have to be aware of what HF trailer you are using (990#, 1175 or 1800?). If those are the correct part numbers from HF in the post above that is great info to have. IF they fit the 1175# capacity w/12" wheels that I am using....

I have two HF trailers the 1800 and the 1175.
The 1800 and the 1175 both use the 30205 bearing (30x20x5 millimeters).
So I assume the above part numbers should work for both.

Thanks Ed, more power info to use on the HF parts & help 800 number.

I guess that my first call to them is the reason I am going to be "firm & insistant" on my next call. I have a large number of excellent bearing sources here in Cincinnati, and I am sure I can find the metrics ones (even Bass Pro had some metric ones in their parts section) locally, but to be told by HF that "those aren't available" ticks me off.

Isn't there some sort of federal law that requires spare parts be available for a certain period of years? Maybe I'm just 'cornfused' again... :?

Oopsie - I stand corrected. It's my seals that are 31527. My bearings are indeed 30205 so I don't have to send back the one I already received from HF and cancel the backorder on the remaining three. :thumbsup:
