tires

Just wondering what everyone runs for tires? I just use R rated passenger car tires, as they are cheaper that trailer tires. Does a lightweight trailer need trailer tires? Are trailer tires still a bias ply?
Thanks

I had trailer tires on my first tear and towed better but since i have used just car tires and they perform perfect. Trailer tires have thicker side walls to limit trailer sway not really a problem with teardrops.

I'v been running passenger car tires on all of my trailers for the last 25 years, except my 35" 5th wheel (it did have passenger tires on it when I bought it, but I changed them because they weren't rated heavy enough for a 10,500 pound GVW trailer). Have never had any tire trouble, and that includes an 18' car trailer that I have put tens of thousands of miles on, usually grossing close to 7000 pounds.

There was a poll on this a while back, I'll search and see if I can find it.

I'd never use trailer tires on a trailer this light. Totally un-necessary and to rough riding.
Use car tires, cheaper and a better ride (you can use less air)
