New 5' Red Trailers in the works

Postby DougGirling » Mon Oct 30, 2006 9:43 pm

I contacted Red Trailers www.RedTrailers.com to see if they would sell me their 5'x8' or 5'x10' landscaping trailer without the side rails, ramp and expanded metal deck for use on a TD. Their reply was that they are going to offer them as plain flatbed utility trailers, available in Jan. '07. The details and pricing should be on their web site next week (1st full week in Nov.).

Well... They do offer an upgrade kit for another $259. Not such a great deal I think?

"CHECK THIS BOX to upgrade your trailer's
towing capacity for an extra $259.95
(plus $20.00 shipping)"

Frankly, You can just buy an axle kit and have a local shop weld you up a custom frame for less than that.

Still not sure if this one or the HF trailer is better.

Red trailer folds , 4 lug wheels, better tongue? "square fenders":

HF trailer has solid sides  , 5 lug?, plenty of "extra" steel to use for something?, round fenders

What do you guys think. I'm leaning towards the HF.

I think your bottom pic is a Northern Tool trailer. The HF (1800#) looks exactly like the red trailer ,Fenders, folding, and all. except the tongue is different and 5 lug.

It's Harbor Freights 5x8. Here is a link:

Here is the HF 1800:

The 1800 is a 4x8.
The tongue pivots, but the trailer does not fold.
