Red Trailer Modification Question

Postby sandman » Thu Nov 30, 2006 8:40 pm

Hey Guys,

I hope some of you guys who have modified the 5x8 Red Trailer can answer a quick question. When it comes to cutting and installing the 2x4 cross rail in place of the 2 metal ones that go into the side rails, how tall should the 2x4 be cut to? I have the 2x4 in but it's taller than the metal cross rails. What size do I need to cut it down to to make it fit flush with the red metal cross members? Yeah, I am thinking too much but I HAVE started my floor finally. :applause:

I think this is your answer but please read the threads and see the build
below for more information :

Thread where I got your answer here:

Red Trailer dimensions:
The inside distance is 63 1/4 inches
The outside distance is 73 5/8 inches

The side rail width is
3 1/8 inches.

SDTripper-You, Sir, are a scholar and a gentlemen. Thanks for very much for the super-informative answer. I tried doing a search but you get so many results returned. it's hard to read through them all.
THANK YOU, THANK YOU , THANK YOU

I notched the ends of mine so that they would fit inside the frame and the top of the 2x4 was level with the top of the trailer frame.
