Red Trailer 5x8

Postby SaGR » Tue May 29, 2007 9:58 am

Other than color there's no difference between the red (SJ-8512) and black (SJ-8531) versions.

Am I reading the specs right?

I'm just curious as we plan out a build. Seems to make sense to buy it already black instead of painting it black.

Oh, and how difficult would it be to go up to a 13" or 14" wheel/tire?

SJ-8534?

Ack! And they've got one specifically labeled for TDs?

Oh I see, 1187 lbs vs. 1217 lbs capacity. Nearly $ 50 for only 30 lbs capacity difference. Hmmm...

That's what I bought, the black one. It has work out fine for me with the Generic Benroy Build.

Mk,

Did you weld yours together or just leave it bolted? It's hard to tell in your gallery.

Also, was the axle in the right position or did you have to move it back?

I just bolted it together. Its rock solid!

I moved the axle back, according to the Generic Benroy Plans.. I had to re-drill the holes. I also cut the cross member by 2", like the plans say, so I had to re-drill a lot a holes to. So get you some good bits and use some oil.

Let me know if you have any other questions.

Sounds good!

I was doodling last night thinking about leaving the trailer at full width for that extra bit of room, but a lot of measurements would change. Granted it's only 2" but that's a fair amount of space when all is said and done.

National tool has a 5x8 trailer on their lot at $300 on sale and I do not have to rebuild it. They do not have the same trailer on their web site, so you will have to check the local store. :) :R

Hmm, the one closest to me had no 5x8 in stock. Maybe I should check another one...

Are you going to camp at Fort Wilderness? We just came from there, if possible, call ahead and rent a golf cart.
