Rustproofing trailer

What do you think about using some paint in pickup truck bedliner for rustproofing a trailer frame?

I used bed liner on my bare steel frame. It worked great.

I should be picking up a trailer within the next week or two. I think I'm going to get a Northern Tools 5x8 trailer frame. They are running $300 right now. They are painted but one of the things I need to do is rustproof it before I build on it. I want to use it in the winter as an ice fishing house and the Minnesota raods have a lot of salt on them in the winter. It should be interesting. I had a friend put the bed liner in his F-150 and all he had to do was sand down the bed to give it a rougher surface for the liner to stick. He loved it and it is very durable.

I think my friend who put it in his pickup truck paid $50 or $60 for a gallon of the pickup truck bedliner that you paint on. I know the bedliner I had the dealership spray into my bed cost a bunch of money.

I think it would work, that stuff is durable. But the problem I see is would it be cost effective, I did a full size Chevy truck bed and it cost me $150.00 with my brothers discount, it was made by Dupli-Color you wouldn’t need as much to paint your frame though.
Estimate the surface area and you might be able to get buy with just a quart or two, and then it might be worth it.

I hulled gravel, sand, dirt and chunks of concrete and it held up well the concrete did gouge it some but not bad.

Finn, I'd love go get a galvanized trailer but I haven't seen any and they would be pretty expensive.

Jeff, I found some spray on stuff for $6 a can at Tractor Supply.
