Watertank -is this possible?

Postby Strop » Wed Sep 24, 2014 6:16 am

I found this photo the other day and it got me thinking about the build I am planning.

I have found a water tank that is 190mm high. I was thinking that if I could mount it in a similar position hard up against the floor I would only need a further 150mm, perhaps 145mm, clearance to the flexiride axle/bar for it to fit.

I was imagining the trailer chassis will be built from 50mm ( 2" ) square tube.

It was my plan to put 15" wheels on the trailer ( same size as car ).

I don't want the teardrop to look like a 4wd model. Will be towing with an older car so no 4wd tracks but not all highway stuff. Planning a grumman 2 shape.

I also was looking at a small drop floor area at the front and putting my spare wheel under the trailer as well if room permits.

I just can't picture it.....

Thanks

Hi Laurie, My plan is to make a roof rack with a solar water heater tank in the rack. I posted plans I drew for a drop floor 5 x 10 in the frame and chassis section under drop floor tab. The tube I plan is 3"x0.120 and 1 1/2" x0.065 with a 16 Ga pan. Hope this helps.
Enjoy, Chris

I can see that working.

Boy is it difficult trying to fit everything in and plan for what you might want and or need without actually having an actual thing to look at - and run a tape over.

I will think some more.
