Lights on a HF 4x8 Trailer problem

Postby The Ruckus » Mon Dec 22, 2014 4:17 pm

I just assembled my HF 4x8 Trailer and added the lights matching color to color. Easy, or so I thought.
Connected the 4 pin to my Ford explorer with proper tow connector (color wires matching)

All lights work correctly until I hit the brakes.

They don't work, plus if I have the signal on, it goes off too.

Checked all the color matching connection and all are good.

Any Ideas?
I have a DMV appointment in 2 hrs...

You could have two issues, lack of a good ground on the trailer, or a tow vehicle that needs a turn/tail/brake light control box for the trailer. The first issue is easily solved with a ground wire running to each light back to the ground wire on the plug. The other will take a bit of internet searching, go to a site like etrailer, enter the TV and see if you need a light controller, my dodge does not, my ford does.
