Northern Tool Trailer - Title info.

Postby Tommy2tone_1999 » Tue Feb 03, 2015 12:09 pm

Does Northern Tool send paperwork that links the VIN on the tongue to the bill of sale??? I can't remember if mine came with this or not

They mailed me a Certificate of Origin separately from the truck freight shipment of the trailer itself. That paper and some money got me a registration and a plate. They never even looked out the window. YMMV.

Howdy,

When I picked up my trailer kit at the NothernTool store in Richmond, Va. and brought it home, the Certificate of Origin was inside my kit. Which was a good thing. However, when I took that down to the DMV and tried to get my title, registration and permanent trailer tags they said that I needed a "bill of sale" that linked the VIN number of the trailer with the "bill of sale". So, I had to go home, call NorthernTool customer service and ask them to send me a "bill of sale" with the VIN number on it. Within a half hour or so they e-mail it to me and the next day I was back down at the DMV and got my title, registration and permanent trailer tags.

So, it took two trips to the DMV not having known that they now require a "bill of sale" with the VIN number.

Seems to me that that is a universal DMV policy. It always takes more than one trip!!! :x

The same thing happened to me with my Red Trailer.
