Getting materials home with a HF boat trailer

Postby skyl4rk » Tue Apr 19, 2016 3:52 pm

I have a small Harbor Freight boat trailer and I would like to use it to get plywood, 2x4s and foam sheets home from the building supply store.

My idea is to get two 2x8s and install them into the holders for the bunks, and lash them down in the front of the trailer. Then stack the materials on the 2x8s and lash it all down.

I don't want to do this more than once so I am thinking about building a box that will fit on the trailer, that I can use for hauling materials, lawn mower or garden stuff. Sort of a pickup bed that I can pull with my small car.

Has anyone done something like this? either the initial lashing everything down, or building a box to haul stuff?

Thanks!

This looks interesting:

Might be able to use it as the base of a camper!
