Wheel bearing replacement

Postby thesaltydog24 » Fri Jul 22, 2016 7:38 am

I just finished putting together my HF trailer and noticed two of the bearings have bent cages. Now I know I will have to replace them, however the question I need answered is do I need to replace the race also? The trailer has never been down the road so no damage has happened to the race. I would hate to have to press out and re press in new races if it's not needed, however that would be a good excuse to buy a shop press... Can anyone chime in on this?
Thanks

You should always replace bearings and races in matched sets..... in my world anyway....since you asked :D
I fear the day that technology will surpass our human interaction, the world will have a generation of idiot's.

There is no need for a press. A hard wood stick and a hammer is all you should need. just work around to tap out evenly.
