What is the cheapest trailer out there?
Is it cheaper to build your chasis?

I think for a ready made, welded trailer you can't beat the Tractor Supply. It's only like $279 and I think it has 13" wheels and 5 bolt hubs. the only draw back is it's 4X8.

I looked on the fishing forums and craiglist for a boat trailer. Usually someone has one cheap. I picked this one up for $125.

Derek-

I bought this 6' x 10' trailer frame for $100! But until I paid for sandblast, paint, new tires, lights, etc. I was in it for $400+!

Image

I really wanted the size, as we sleep 4!

Check used ones, but know you will probably pay to fix 'em up!

Scott's right; the deal is a 4' x 8' unplanked TSC frame!

JMO!

Cheers,

Coop

I didn't see the no floor model listed on their site.
http://www.mytscstore.com/default.asp

Here is a picture I took at the local store in Kansas City when I was deciding on a chassis. The only reason I didn't go with this is because I wanted 5 feet wide. I now know you can custom order that size if you want to. I believe they are made by Carry On treailers. http://www.carry-ontrailer.com/

Do you remember what store that is and what they were going for? They look perfect for my Cub project.

Thanks,

Joseph

Joseph,
that trailer should be available at all the TSC stores. It is not on the website nor is it listed on the Carry-on site.
Best bet is to call your local TSC store and ask if they have any of the
4 x 8 no floor trailers in stock. They seem to sell out fast here in Florida.
Should be about $279 or $289 bucks.

It has a Dexter axle, the trailer is rated for about 1500 pounds and it has 12 inch wheels with 5 bolt hubs on it.

Good luck.

The heavy duty HF trailer is rated for 1800#. The TSC trailer at my store was rated for 1250#. With a sale price and coupon, HF was $50 less. However, HF regular price is $399. TSC regular price is $289. HF has a triangular toungue, all ready for a toungue box if you want. TSC will require additional pieces. The wheels and tires look identical. The HF heavy duty axle looks just like the Dexter, but is probably a cheap foreign copy. TSC trailer is welded. HF is bolted.

I set out ready to buy the TSC trailer. But I realized the HF worked better for the way I wanted to build my floor. If I were any good with a welder, I would probably get the TSC and make some very minor modifications. HF just worked as is out of the box for me. Go to both stores and look at them and decide which will work for your plan.
