NT 5x8 Trailer coupler upgrade

Postby g00s3 » Mon Mar 13, 2017 6:36 pm

Hi All,

To cut a really long story short, when working on my tongue box recently I came to the conclusion that upgrading my coupler to one that can support a a-frame jack would solve a few problems I've been working on. I went ahead and ordered a new fulton coupler (this one: https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B000VEV1JO) which I assumed would just weld in place (having read some posts on there about it being done) but when it arrived today the angle seems wrong. When I line up the bracket of with the bolt-holes for the old coupler, it doesn't appear to line up correctly on the new coupler.

Am I wrong to have assumed that the NT 5x8 trailer has a 50 degree a-frame? I can return the coupler if it is incorrect, but I'm a little stumped as to why it won't fit or what the correct coupler would be as they all seem to be made for 50 degree a-frames. Anyone come across this issue before?

Thanks!
