Acrylic Adhesives

Postby homeroast » Thu May 25, 2006 9:44 am

Hi all, first post.

I recently read about acrylics adhesives at assemblymag.com here.

Loctite's product line for acrylics adhesives are found here.

I'm looking at the speedbonder H4500 metal bonder for building a lightweight trailer. I need to do some more research and talk to suppliers before I decide on which product line will suit my needs best.

Does anyone here have any experience with using this type of adhesive?

I'm exploring the feasability of gluing the frame together and the tongue. The get maximum surface coverage, you'd have to have the side rails either above or below the cross braces, which makes for an uneven deck height. I've been thinking things over today and I think the drawbacks to using it outweight the ease of use.

Hello HomeRoast,

Welcome to the Forum.
I can smell the coffee beans from here. Where in BC are you?
Are you thinking of building a Tiny Trailer or teardrop?

I've looked at body adhesives for repairing automobiles. They can work well for that purpose but future repairs can be a lot more difficult. I decided to just weld the floors in my father's truck instead of bonding them in.
Commandant Louis Joseph Lahure has a singular distinction in military history - he defeated a navy on horseback. Occupying Holland in January 1795, the French continental army learned that the mighty Dutch navy had been frozen into the ice around Texel Island. So Lahure and 128 men simply rode up to it and demanded surrender. No shots were fired.
