HF Bearing Dust Cap Size

Postby gratis » Tue May 30, 2006 12:05 pm

One of my dust caps is missing after a test drive. I need to know what size cap to get. They are not the standard 1.9, but larger. Does anyone know what size to get? 2.4?

Glad you found one but don't just slap it on there. Take the hub off, remove the seal and bearings, clean them good and repack them, also remove all the old grease from the hub and clean it.
An almost garaunteed way to premature bearing failure is to just replace a lost cap and not clean everything first. It only takes a little road dust to make those bearings junk.

The real trick will be finding the stuff locally. I won't get into why, but anyone who has ordered online from HF knows they take a while.
