I sold my gas welder when I moved, but bought a Lincoln WeldPak 100...for around the house/yard, no commercial use...gasless...has enough poop to do the frames I want to do....no fatigued welds/falilures or problems on either one, over 6K miles on #1, it's just a year old...3 miles on #2 in and out of the shop a lot!! ...also takes up a lot less space in the shop, but I do miss aluminum gas welding capabilities.... Doug

I welded my frame with oxy/acetylene....................and sure wish I'd had a wire-feed welder. I warped my frame from front to rear and have had a dickens of a time pulling it back to plumb. Think I'll use my oxy-acetylene rig for cutting only in the future.

Got an ancient Lincoln 225. Made a rod box out of an old mailbox, I put a 15 watt light bulb in the back of it to keep my welding rods dry.

Millermatic 175 220V with gas. Tried the cheap HF 110v wire feed but the welds were terrible and didn't work good on the thicker stuff.
I cut it three times and it's still too short!!

Model 151 from HF. Not the best, but it did all I ever asked of it when I was welding my frame. It may die tonight, but it has served me well so far. With 20% off coupon and HF's perpetual sales, should be able to get it for $160 or so.

Used a Lincoln DC stick welder. Took a welding class a few years ago and the teacher could do anything with a stick welder and a cutting torch.

Lincoln 175 MIG ... 220v ... none of the smaller ones will do what I need them to and this one is even a bit small for me. 8)

Since i am a blacksmith, I weld with electric, oxy/acet and occasionally some forge welding.
My electric welder is "old dependable"..an early seventies Lincoln 225 (copper wound)..

I decided , a couple years ago to get a MIG welder..so I went to a big-box store and bought a no-name unit...

BIG MISTAKE !!...If I were to do it again, I would spend the same money and buy a 10 year old BRAND NAME...

That no-name sits in the corner..collecting dust...
