chassis components

Hi,
I am thinking about building my own chassis. I am wondering if any of you have suggestions for the best material to use. I want to have an A-frame within the rectangle, rear stabilizer jacks, sidewalls covering the chassis, 8 or 9 feet long and 5 feet wide...Benroy or Kenskill, storage box in front style...Probably Benroy because I hate hitting my head and shins and a new Dexter torsion axle...at least this is what I think I want. I plan to tow this behind either my Subaru Outback or an older Jeep Cherokee and recognize my overbuilder inclinations. I'm willing to change vehicles if my trailer becomes too heavy but will try to keep myself under control with the weight issues.
Also, does anyone have good ideas for places to buy steel? I live in Olympia, approx half-way between Seattle and Portland and am an enthusiastic scrounger. If I find some salvaged materials, are there any helpful hints as to what one should look for or avoid?
Sorry for being so wordy.
Kris
p.s. I've become obsessed.

I used 2x2x.120 for the entire frame.

Try Metal Supermarket in Lakewood Washington. They will cut what ever you want to size. 8) Danny
