Fred - I showed the welder your sketches of the axle bracket but gave him the leway to do his own thing. Here's what he came up with:

Thanks to everyone for your responses! I'm not going to worry about the bare frame bouncing now. I'm still debating on those holes yet, though :thinking:

Jeanette, you can get rubber grommets in various sizes from most hardware stores(you can cut the grommet to install if needed)...they will keep the wire from chaffing into a short...you can also tape the wires or get some liquid electrical tape(great stuff for tool handles, rope ends ect..) and daub it around the hole to cover the edges of said hole

On the bouncy trailer..I agree with Jack, Chip, AF and Mercier..

Doug gave you the straight story on sealant.
