Greetings from New Hampshire!

Postby Jimmy D » Wed Oct 24, 2007 1:17 pm

Hello everyone.

My wife and I saw something on TV (Travel Channel I think) about teardrops and we liked the idea of them. So we (I) are doing the very beginning homework of what goes into the construction of one and will decide if this is the better option over a pop-up camper. Personally, I think it is.

I will be pouring over various plans during the winter months to decide which model works best for us and how we would want to construct it. Among the considerations is the fact that it will probably be pulled by my Ford Ranger rather than her Toyota Matrix. So aerodynamics will play a big part in the design as well as the fact that it will be stored in my driveway.

I must say this forum is a godsend on the subject and I look forward to conversing with people about this wonderful topic.

Welcome Jim,

Take a look at the Generic Benroy plans above. We just built one and it's very spacious. This is our third teardrop and we like it best.

Enjoy your build, sid :hammer:

Welcome Jim,

Glad you found us. We have everything you need to build your own trailer. Plans, look at the top of the page at Generic Benroy Plans or the Design Library. Need a CAD program, look under CAD Secrets. And if you have questions about just about anything "trailer", look at sdtripper2's Index at the top of the page.

Hope you enjoy yourself and as you get into your building project, be sure and post lots of :pictures: . We love pictures.

See you around the campfire.

To the playground/adult day care center Jim. If we don't have what you want, just ask and someone will help. If you get stuck for a design that suits your needs, well, design your own.

The generic plans at the top are basic and complete. They work for just about any design.

Also you might check into Steve Frederics build CD. People find it very useful.

Enjoy

Cow Hampshire, huh? What part?

Allow me to do the initiating:

1) Don't bring up the subject of Al Gore.
2) Gage will bite if provoked.
3) Ira is the king in these parts, but most of the others are not aware.

That's about it.

Good luck.

I am in Hillsborough, 30 minutes west of Concord and somewhat near Cold Springs RV in New Boston. So if I need any RV supplies and stuff I can go there, but they don't have anything to do with teardrops.

I have been reviewing this site for the last two days and I must say that people here fall all over themselves to help others and offer their assistance. What a great place and it has certainly added to our discussion as to what we want and don't want. I know I am looking forward to building one and our camping ventures in the White Mountains.

But first and foremost, we need to plan this out and decide just what we want to do. Luckily I have friends who know all about carpentry, electrical and welding, so I have great resources to help if need be.

the key is to make about 50 totally different plans randomly throw 49 of them away start to build that 1 you picked and then a week into it decide you want to go with the first one you wanted

Oh, I'm a stickler for making out plans. We have already started a list of things so there is much up for discussion on our end. Guess I need to learn a CAD program now.

A question though, where can I find this "Steve Frederics build CD" mentioned earlier?
