Another "Howdy" from Texas

Postby planovet » Tue Nov 27, 2007 5:09 pm

Hello everyone!

After a couple of weeks of lurking on this site, I have decided to take the plunge and register. My wife and I saw a special on the Travel Channel on Teardrops and I have become infatuated with the concept. I would like to try and build a simple model and see how we like it before upgrading. Of course, I will probably upgrade as I build. I don't know how well my building skills will be but I have framing, drywall, some electrical, flooring and other skills that I have used in the past on a previous house. Like the saying goes, I'm a jack of all trades but a master of none. After another few weeks of perusing this board I hope to have an idea of what I want and maybe a rough game plan. Wish me luck!

As an aside, after looking through this board almost all day yesterday I went to sleep and had dream after dream of Teardrop designs and layouts. This stuff can be addictive.

Welcome! And just so you know......there is no cure for the addiction.
And once you attend a gathering......then you're really in trouble. Good Luck, and again... welcome to the madness.

Thanks for the greetings!

I hope to attend a gathering sometime soon for ideas. Any in/around Texas in the near future?

Welcome. I'm in Frisco.

We have a gathering at Lake Ray Roberts on Dec. 7th. Come on up and see a few TDs in person, and have pot-luck supper with us on Saturday night.

Seeing some in person is a good thing to do before you build. It helps you decide what you want, and don't want.

Check out this thread for more information on this gathering: http://tnttt.com/viewto ... highlight=

We're a pretty friendly bunch, so don't be shy about coming out to look and eat.

CD :)

We live in Frisco too. I just work in Plano. Lake Ray Roberts is just down the road. I think we will be there on Saturday. We will have to pitch a tent and learn.

Hi Mark,

Welcome to the forum. Sounds like you have an idea of what you want and you are already addicted, so take advantage of it and " GitRDun. "

Howdy

I wish I'd known about the Ray Roberts event two weeks ago. I'm from Waxahachie, just joined this forum and wishing to see some other TD's for ideas. I plan to start mine in the spring and build a simple, minimalist TD. I'd really like to see some build pics from others like Mitchell's red trailer. Very clean and simple.
