Yes you were right, they will honor the coupon even if they don't have that trailer in stock. I decided to go with the HF 4x8' anyways mainly because it was $212.50 with the coupon. Thats half the price of the 5x8' and I've seen a number of trailers in this forum that did what I plan on doing and they all look great. Of course that price doesn't include sales tax and good 'ol NYS tire taxes. Then of course registration fees and oh yeah then the inspection fee. Did I forget anything? So I picked up my trailer this morning and I'll probably get started on it tomorrow!

You can even build a curved long weekender on the HF chassis. :D

You may also consider the 5x8 no floor trailer from Northern Tool. I got mine for $299.00 and am very happy with it.

I didn't see a 5x8 on their webpage for $299, they have one for $479. If its an instore only thing I live about 500 miles from the closest store. Do you have an item number for your trailer or some way to identify it if I wanted to call them?

Thanks

No, sorry, I don't have a number, and 500 mile is a bit farther than my 10 miles. I didn't see it in the master catalog I got today. The local stores usually carry them. I think it's usually $319, but it was on sale.

5x8 is the way to go, so keep looking.......

Hi Lucas: here's some info on aluminum. we are restoring a 46 Modernistic and it is made of .040 aluminum. a local metal shop is getting me a 4 x 8 sheet of .040 as we have to replace the galley hatch and part of the lower rear . he quoted me around $100. truck/trailer repair places use sheet aluminum and it also comes with a white finish on it, or plain unfinished. I have a piece of the white somewhere, as I work on big trucks, but not bodywork anymore. I think it is thicker than .040 . good luck on your build.

Thanks thats good to know. I thought it would be like $500 for the aluminum. My wife wants to paint it some "cute" color like tangerine she says. But the roof will defintely be aluminum if I can find some locally. She thinks white, black, or silver is boring. I would have a picture of us both for my message thing but I don't seem to have any...

hi Lucas,
Welcome aboard, I've picked up boat trailers and pop ups for zero dollars and modify them to fit any project I decide on. My build is on a cut down pop up frame........ Good luck with your build we're almost neighbors
