Greetings from Northern California

Postby Mike & Lisa » Fri Dec 18, 2020 5:21 pm

My wife and I recently purchased a 2020 Camp-Inn Ultra 560, and completed our maiden voyage across half of the country. While we're new to the world of teardrops, we come with an extensive camping background. We raised 5 kids camping all over the U.S. in our Jumping Jack tent trailer, which has now been passed on to them to use for camping with their young families. Under our watch, the Jumping Jack made it to 46 of the lower 48 states and a couple of Canadian provinces. I got my 50th state (Arkansas) in 2012, and my wife got hers (Alaska) in 2019, and we've camped in most of them (but never with a furnace or air conditioning!). Our youngest daughters got their 50th states at the ripe old ages of 12 and 14. We still love the Jumping Jack, but we were ready for even less setup and a few more amenities. Prior to the Jumping Jack, we were tent campers...and we still are for motorcycle and Jeep trips!

This forum has already been a spectacular resource for us, so thank you those who have contributed their knowledge and experiences. It helped us to hit the ground running for our maiden voyage, which was a spectacular success despite several obstacles thrown in our way (COVID-19, 75+ mph wind gusts, snow, and a tornado evacuation!). Hopefully we can repay the debt.

Looking forward to the new teardrop lifestyle and meeting other teardroppers both here in the forum and out 'n about in our travels!

Welcome to the forum, I'm sure you'll find it useful.
I don't know the web address but there's a Camp Inn forum too.

Thanks, Danny! Yes, I'm already signed up on the Camp-Inn forum as well. Great bunch of people!

Beautiful rig you have, by the way!

Thanks Mike, that's number 6 I built in 2015.
Your brave souls to teardrop during this pandemic, ours hasn't left the garage since October 2019.
I've considered building #7 to keep me busy but hoping a return to normal will return by summer 2021.
My wife wants a custom sewing room so that may be my next project.
Hopefully we may run into each other someday at a teardrop gathering.

Danny, much respect for building your own. I don't have the free time or space to undertake such a project, and I figured I'd probably have to build at least THREE before I worked out all the bugs and ended up with something I would be happy with. #6 looks great, and I look forward to seeing if you pursue #7.

Cheers,
Mike

Hi Mike & Lisa,
Welcome to the forum and thanks for sharing about your camping experiences. Your family has really been on the road in their lifetime and had some great adventures. The folks who posted on this thread, Halfdome Danny and nevadatear are some of the BEST ever people to meet up with you will ever find. We have camped with them and they are some of the finest teardroppers you could every cross paths with. We miss camping with them, but know we will be doing it again someday....sooner rather than later! Enjoy your time on this forum and camping in Northern California, which is our home as well, is pretty special because you can do it year round. Finding campgrounds/sites open has been "spotty" since the virus, but when you do you can be sure your trailer will turn a few heads, and attract some attention.

you're too kind Joanie. :D
It's great go know you and Dean are still out there, we sure miss the IRG ( International Redwood Gathering) you guys hosted, lots of fun.
When I wear one of the T shirts of the IRG it makes Jane and I smile.

Say hi to Dean for us.

Welcome! I live just down the road from the Camp_inn factory and have toured it and loved their trailers. I'm sure you will enjoy your 560! I needed something with more capacity while my boys are still at home (and taller than me!), but someday...
