Hello from the PNW

Postby damarble » Thu Apr 01, 2021 9:32 am

I've been reading up here for a while but finally asked for a membership. I'm building a self contained 3 person teardrop/standy hybrid of sorts. 6.5W x 10L x 5.5H. I went round and round on the size and features we needed and after 20+ layouts I ended up with this. Construction is a steel frame, 1.5" foam walls with 3/4" plywood reinforcements, sheathed in 1/4" plywood, with aluminum sides and Filon roof.

Good start. Pantry over bed accessible from inside or outside? About 6 1/2 ft by 11-12 ft?

And Welcome!

Thanks.

It's only 10ft long, I restricted myself to that length because I already had 5x10 aluminum I bought when I was planning to build smaller. I finally realized I couldn't fit what I needed in that space and went wider. If I didn't have the aluminum I would have used Filon everywhere and another 2ft would have let me do an internal kitchen. This design puts everything accessible from outside through premade cargo doors.

I have a tendency to let projects get out of hand with tons of details, and right now my frame is built and upside down while I design the independent airbag suspension I talked myself into.
