New on the block

Sharon and I were talking about doing something with our truck to make it better for camping. With some web surfing and You Tubing we have seen a lot of ideas for camping vehicles. We each admire the look of a teardrop. The fellow with the You Tube channel 'Camp and Camera' Mike Foster, listed 'TNTTT' as a resource. A resource it is in deed!

Tomorrow we going to go window shopping. We'll check the local commercial offerings, to get a sense of size and scale of smaller trailers. Price and weight will preclude buying one off a lot. Then we'll decide if we want to build a TTT,

My List

Tows well, so driving is not more 'work'.

It needs to be light weight. It should fit (mostly) in our truck's wind shadow, thus fuel efficient.

Nothing built below the frame. Our forest roads are often not maintained.

Minimum fiddle factor, so making and breaking camp, isn't a chore.

Galley outside! No Heat, smells, or mess in our abode. I'd like room to work the galley. (all of the out of doors)

It can be built by one of little skill. (myself)

Her List.

Can get out of bed easy, just like home.

Standing head room, suffers with claustrophobia.

Potti on-board, I am in that camp now too.

Designs we've eyeballed and are considering are:

mikeschn Winter Warrior, OWW, Optomized escape hatch
Rayvillian's winter warrior?
starleen2's Lady Bug winter warrior
wlivesey Northwestern winter warrior

Sharon really likes the look of the alto, but I'm no longer young, and the roof looks heavy.

The rear hatch solution seems to answer much of out lists, add a couple of pull out galley boxes, and we are there(?).
Keeping the curvy look is preferred to boxy. Lady bug ,for one. did it well.

Anyway glad to have joined up here, hope to see ya down the road, here in California and beyond.

Michael:

Welcome. You're in a friendly camp.

Galley outside!

Here's some inspiration.

Thanks for the welcome.

You've a lovely galley on your rig. It and much of what is shared here is an inspiration.
