The awning looks good and for all of my forethought and planning, I missed the window in the door and will need to get that in ... the trailer looks good

I just had had awning installed on mine and didn't get any pics yet ... I asked them to install the awning "C" rail as high as they could (within reason) to give me door clearance and it came out great; will your door clear okay?? Just wondering, if not, they make a little wheel that attaches to your door to keep it from rubbing on the awning...

Looks great ... :applause: :applause:

The door clears okay. The factory installed that roller thingy on the top of the door - which also has rounded corners. Here's a picture showing the awning deployed. The one thing I need to work on is a door stop mechanism to keep the door open without it having it bump the awning frame whenever the wind whips up.

I just use the awning pull strap that is wrapped around the upright. undo the wraps once or twice and slip it on the door handle to keep The door from closing.

First 6 hours of physical labor on the project - sanded the interior walls down with 80/120/220 to prep for primer.

Next up: primer, filling the uneven places with spackle, more sanding, then more primer. Then I'll be ready for a little color (or not!).

The color scheme is a base coat of cloud silver, ragged candlestick silver on top, and charcoal trim. Here are some pictures going from primer to finished product! 8)

A quick update: I joined my local TechShop in here in Austin so I could use their wood and metal shops on this project. Last weekend I knocked out a prototype face frame in cheap pine to practice using the tools. This morning I made the trip to the fine lumber yard and picked up some pre-finished birch plywood for cabinet sides/shelves/door panels and soft maple lumber for the face frames. Now I can really get started!

Should have some pics to post soon...

You are fortunate. Having resources available to you is a great thing. I would love to do that and to attend a beginners welding course, but I am too far in the countyside for any to be available to me.

I've made some more progress on the build. The plywood for the closet is cut, but I needed to do the electrical before I could proceed. I spent some of Saturday and most of Sunday installing a circuit, junction box, and exterior outlet. I left the inside unconnected since I'll do it after I install the closet -- using flexible metal conduit to protect the wires. Here are some pictures!

Been a few weeks since I posted, but I've made some nice progress. First, the finished results - the closet is installed! The face frame is 3/4" soft maple that was dyed black before being finished with lacquer. The cases sides are 1/2" pre-finished birch plywood. The base is 3/4" pre-finished plywood (I had more than I needed for the counter tops). Everything is joined using pocket hole screws. I will eventually add upper cabinets and an applied face frame on the left side of the closet along with doors of similar wood and design.

John, I like your inside barn door lock idea. I cannot do that as I will have a false wall 18" in from the back.
But with my egress window, I am less concerned of being locked in.
