Understand.
I have not tried that yet. My belief is that they will exchange it as they exchange others that still have some of the 12 year life in them. I will try it and let you know how it goes some day.

Water Heater Repair

I ordered a potted circuit board for my Gas Water heater tonight. It should arrive before I leave Thursday. If not, I can use the electric part with the Generator for hot showers.

You may recall I had a problem last time I went camping where the Thermostat failed and the hot water high pressure valve let go. I shut all the gas down after that and just used the electric element I had installed.

Last week, I bought some new thermostats but noticed when installing them last night that the potted circuit board looked like it had flames on it and was bubbled a bit.

Long story short, the flame comes on.... the igniter keeps clicking and then it shuts down and has to be reset to try again. I cleaned the igniter/sensor and cleaned all contacts with no improvement. I think all my gas pressures are good as I can energize the gas solenoid with a 12V jumper and it flames as expected. The igniter /sensor is also clearly in the flame. The circuit card should fix it given the igniter is sparking well and I cleaned the surface with steel wool until it shined. :worship:

In the process, I discovered why I had the meltdown in the first place ..... Bees apparently built a hive in the flame tube. That obstruction apparently causes some flames to reverse as I can see black marks on the inside of the cover where the igniter area is.

Also, when I blew out the burn chamber with an air hose, you would not believe the ashes that came out. I then pushed a rag through and out comes a bunch of sand and etc.. Bottom line... gotta watch for the bees in the water heater... they will cause a meltdown. I saw a few bees drop out when I turned on the gas, but I had no idea it was full of them and that it would cause all those problems. I guess I torched them!

flboy, Howdy;

You can attach some window screen material to the access door to prevent them
nasty critters from doing that again. Seems they like the scent of the odourant used
to give the propane something we can smell (Ethyl Mercaptan).

Still not too late to do Salt Springs. AC can stay on in your case.

If you can make it this weekend at SSRA, the you can go all summer.. That, or I can help you figure out a solution for your AC so you can run off your Champion Gen.

When it is real hot like this, I make sure I am well hydrated and limit the single track riding. We need to run faster trails where we have good airflow. No different than the bikes. They will overheat if not going > 10mph for more than a few minutes, especially with the RPMs up in the sugar sand.

My inner voice says SSRA. Too many pros to ignore. Unlimited AC, water, electric. No need for generators or auxiliary water tank. A place to soak and cool off in the 72 degree crystal clear spring. Peace and quite at night guaranteed. We could even load up my truck Saturday with both bikes and hit the centennial trail. I have not seen that yet. I would bring my ramp, no problem. Maybe bring a box of 9mm and hit the Ocala gun range on the way back from the centennial trail.  If I get heat exhaustion I'm done for 48 hours as I have been there more than a few times. Core temp takes days to come down. Terrible feeling. Sick.

Yes ride easy.

ONE THING. I don't know if my gray water from the sink running out on there asphalt would be ok. Probably not. I would use there showers as they were clean last time I stayed there before the conversion. Could I borrow your 12 gal. portable gray tank? Will clean and return promptly.

This would insure a great trip and I would do it again I'm sure. Stayed in delancey in august once and swore I would never do it never again.
May bring mask and snorkel to just float and look at the spring life. Through a bicycle in the back to ride to the spring and shower too.

Yes can we do this Don? Leaving at 1300 now. I feel like its cheating but it is a matter of survival in a way.

Tommy, so it is SSRA. I will bring you a portable 12ga grey water tank to set under the trailer. You can empty at your campsite when full.

If you are leaving that early, grab a site next to yours for me also if there is a risk of a full campground.
