Not sure I understand above. Do you have the preamp now? Yes, that is the hookup diagram, except I do not think there is a TV3,AM/FM connection is on other side of preamp not directly into antenna, and color codes need to be verified against the brand as that does not appear to be right from the manual.

There is no preamp provided. I think I need this antenna as it provides a power source for the antenna.

Antenna
• Antenna Mount
• Shafts for Varying Roof Thickness
• Built-in KING SureLock Signal Meter
• Interior Enclosure with Rotation Knob
• Wall Mount Power Injector
• Owner’s Manual

See Wall Mount Power Injector? Is that the equivalent to a preamp?

Don, bottom line is that no preamp is provided with the TV. I think the user has to provide that with the antenna. if you agree I will just move forward and purchase an antenna with a power supply. What do you think? :?

Tommy, preamp is part of antenna system and not part of the TV. It has the wall plate and "injects power" to the internal electronics inside the antenna..

There should have been one of those in the box... That is what I have been trying to say and why I kept asking if you installed the preamp.

If it is not there, it must be in my cabinet.

In any case, any of those antennas you are looking at will work. The main differences are the effective ranges. You want something 80 miles or better and omni directional. I can't remember the spec is on my antenna, but it was greater than that.

If the antenna is directional and you have to rotate, it is a PIA to try to scan and learn new channels when you move a trailer around and you can't just flip through all the channels without rotating each time or depending on what channel you want.. Just the way it is.

You give up some gain/range with the omni directional however. It is a good trade off in my opinion.

I'll look when I get home and let you know. I have to leave home by 6:30pm as I am teaching a class tonight, but will be home around 6pm. If you can come by at 6pm, I will show you how it is all set up so no confusion. If I find the preamp then also, you will be all set. If I can't find it, obviously this is not going to work for you. There was a little white box inside the larger box with the antenna... what was inside that? I never looked inside, but assumed it was the wall plate/ preamp?

I remember the antenna dropping out the bottom of the box and us placing the antenna and only the antenna back in the box while in you garage.
Just info. But I too will look on my table in the garage. You never know.

Yes, look for a plain white box about the size of a wall outlet cover. I remember seeing that in the box as the antenna dropped out the bottom. I never looked inside the small white box, so I couldn't say if it was inside. But if you can find that little white box, it may be what we need. I will double check at home also. Tx. See you at 6pm

Tommy B and flboy, Howdy;

Ahhhh yes, the wee White Box ... The bit that truly pulls the whole TV thing together in RV World.
It runs off of 12vdc and is the power supply to the antenna and is also the splitter for multiple locations (2).
When wired correctly it should have a light (Red or Green depending on maker), to indicate power to antenna
one coax for ant. and 2 for TV's.

hank

PS, almost forgot to mention, some of the newer ones will also have a signal strength meter incorporated
to hel get it aimed at a broadcast source. Out here they use relay towers called translators so that the whole
State can tune into the major broadcast centers. Here in N.M. it's Albuquerque, in Ut. it's SLC.
Striving for a less complicated life since 1949 ...
Every day I beat my own previous record for number of consecutive days I've stayed alive.

Hank, oh yes. What an education I am getting. Really. I never realized how much I didn't know about so many things.

Still so much to do.

That is the DVD. No antenna yet! Its a mess in there now. Feeling a bit overwhelmed by it all. Thank god for Dons advice, tech support and generosity with his time.

I need a day off .
