Not what I expected out of a 'rolling' chicken coop, but interesting none the less. Then again, maybe having fresh eggs and chicken wings while camping is the next big thing!

Nice signature tag line.

Is the inverse also true?

And what if the dunces think they are all geniuses and that the genius is a moron?

Re: A 12 ft. FEATHERLITE conversion

Thanks for all the good information specific to Featherlite in this thread.
I'm very seriously considering ordering a new 10-ft Featherlite #1610, but with their lowest hight of 4'10" (inside).
My reasoning is
1. Featherlite's quality and features.
2. This low-profile model will be less expensive to tow and is not offered as a standard option by other mfrs (as far as I'm aware).
3. I have a low garage opening and want to store it inside.

The use would primarily be for cargo and/or motorcycle, with occasional camper use.

So, my questions have to do with determining what add-ons I can do myself vs. having the factory install.
1. How difficult would it be to remove the inside lining to run wires or install outlets, and then put back the lining?
2. How difficult would it be to CORRECTLY install E-track, i.e., so that I'm not damaging the walls' integrity?
3. Same question for floor tie-downs?

I realize that I "can" do this. But, since I've never examined a Featherlite, I don't know if there's some aspect to it that the factory would be better off doing.
Thanks in advance for any insight.
Phil
PS I've been watching CraigsList for a while, and have never found a low-height cargo trailer of ANY mfr.

Phil,

Thanks for asking. Long story short from experience, extreme aversion to unnecessary complications and my not-so-humble opinion:

Get the factory to install it all. (This is a high quality product and their assemblers are not schlock artists, so the work is as good or better than you and I can do.) Their interior paneling on mine was puncture-proof (with a hammer swung hard), resin-hardened OSB, which Lowe's and Home Depot do not have. Number each section for easy replacement. It's easy to take down and re-hang, as opposed to cutting other paneling to fit and then fastening it to the aluminum wall studs.

The extra you pay will save a massive amount of personal stress, slow-motion construction time and conundrums.

 Best wishes to you,

Prem
