Back in Nebraska at my son's house after Sturgis. Rode 1,079 miles on the Kingpin while there. Will be here in Nebraska for a few weeks helping build a deck and a few other things before I head out on the road again.
Probably will notice the ripped awning in the photo. Almost lost it on I-90. I saw it start to deploy in rear view after hitting some hard bumps and in a heavy headwind. Of course,I pulled off immediately. Normally I zip tie it, but got complacent when I could not find my zip ties. Fortunately, new fabric mailed from Aleko was only $109. Luckily, nothing else broke or bent.
Now from first hand experience, I can attest that the clamps are not enough and can work loose on rough roads. I will be drilling through both arms and putting a bolt with wing nut to make sure this never happens again. Bolt will be retained and hanging by a small chain when not installed.. This way I will never be looking for zip ties or the bolt. Beware all, this could have been worse. I felt real dumb on the side of the highway securing the ripped awning. Never want to do that again.
Side note... it gets just as hot in Nebraska as it does in Florida. The AC keeps up well. 95 outside and 71 inside. Humidity inside was also down to 45%.
Sturgis ride video to come in the next few days... will post YouTube link.
Also, wife and I have been living out of the CTC for almost three weeks now. It is working out better than I expected. Very happy with it.
