HALLMARK 6X12 CONVERSION

Postby Padilen » Tue Jun 07, 2016 8:14 pm

I use the same TP in my house as trailer. We have used Scotts (not RV or rapid dissolving)because it is safe for septic tanks. It dissolves fast to me, I have only a 5 gallon tank and over Memorial weekend I decided to dump it. No paper no solids! I used about 1 oz of tank treatment, and one quick flush and all was good. My holding tank actually would have had room, but I need to experience emptying it in a less then ideal situation.

Don't pay the RV price for your TP. Scott single ply is what I use. Been livin' the RV life since 2009 and
so far (knockin' the heck out of a chunk of wood), no clogs or other problems with the plumbing systems.
On tip is this ; ... water is your friend when it comes to the Black Tank. The more liquid you put in the tank
the better it drains. There is no whoosh like in your household flush, it just drops and that's all there is.
To keep things slick so it wants to leave in an orderly manner I use some fabric softener (one cap full per 15 gal.),
it sorta coats the walls of the tank as it fills and makes things slippery. It also makes the tank smell better before
the next usage.

Hank my tank is 15 gallons and I will follow your advice to the letter. Fabric softener, yes I can see that. The wand. Yes. One of those blue tabs per tank,ok. Just had to rethink and adapt per your advice. The nature of the project it seems. So much to learn.
I will not bother to show any pics of last night. No point. Flush king a let down but I will use it cause I have it. Fill gently, drain,repeat x3 after the wand. Add 2-3 gallons of water and Fabric softener and a tab for storage. Is that right?

Door to arrive between 11 and 3. Finally arrived at 4ish after I called. This is what I got done while waiting. Rain came hard again around noon.

One final before the new door. This will not be easy as I thought. I was lead to believe the holes would be pre drilled. This door is pretty heavy. Hope two hinges is enough. Come to think about it I don't think there is a spot for the latch ass. to bolt through. Am I gonna have to cut that out. 4x4 or so? I'm done. Chit. More problems I think.

Tommy B. Howdy;

You are beginning to sound as if you are feeling overwhelmed ... not good. Step back,
go do something else for a day, try not to think about it... Don't allow it to become
"Personal". When we allow an inanimate object to control us we have lost. :(

About the tank, if it sets for a while, then it may dry up due to evaporation. I don't know,
I use mine all the time, well at least a few times each day. So mine never dries out. The tabs
are another gimmick, Everyone is out to empty your wallet, Just make sure you put some
water in the tank before you head out and whats left of the last charge of Fabric softener
should rejuvenate and give the tank a good coating while you drive to the campground, just
a sloshin' around in there ... ;) Don't over think it, it's only poo.

Tommy B. Howdy;

Research is cool, but take a mental break for the whole thing,
other than when sleeping. Remember Pogo from circa 1969;
"We has met the enemy ... and he is us." Truer words have yet
to be uttered ... anywhere ... since.

Few good nights sleep now. Just needed to relax the mind. Just verifying the height and width gave me great relief. Wow, like the tank, they seemed to have really nailed it. Almost exact but tighter by an eighth or so which is even better. We will see. The door is really solid. Aluminum skin on both sides now. Not that thin Luanne plywood crap on the inside. And the window...wow. I feel better. Cant wait for tomorrow. Like Christmas for me.
I think I can jig saw that small app. 3x4 inch pass through for the latch assembly. Drill four holes in the corners and get jiggy. Tape the edge of the cut so not to scratch.
5 Inches of rain yesterday. More on the way. Did I mention how much I ....never mind.

To tomorrow :beer: :worship: :beer: :worship: :beer: :beer:

Tommy, good luck with the installation. That is going to look nice on there. You'll also like the natural light it gives you. :thumbsup: :thumbsup:
