A 12 ft. FEATHERLITE conversion

Converting Cargo Trailers into TTTs

 A few construction ideas that could be of use to us:

Part 1. http://www.cheaprvliving.com/blog/converting-a-ford-transit-connect/

Part 2. http://www.cheaprvliving.com/blog/update-ford-transit-connect-ftc/

P.S. Same here on the redneck-hippie-mountain man-cargo trailer. (Sorry, I couldn't find more photos of it.) Far preferable to the King-of-the-World one.

I really liked that build too. If I remember correctly he was living in it while going to school. He could also fit a fair sized sailboat in there.

I finally found a link to it again.... https://tinef.wordpress.com/tag/convert ... o-trailer/

I liked his bed lift and wood stove. He had 2 people and a large dog living in it full time and still converting it to carry the boat. Some upper cabinets or other solution would have been helpful on the visual clutter.

:? This looks a whole lot more complicated--though smaller--than what we've got.

While not a full time rig, thought I would share a previous camping rig I built.

Until I was 52, I competed in off road motorcycle endurance events around the nation, which often required travel to/from race locations many of which involved a 2000+ mile round trip. Events included 24 hour races, multi-day long distance endurance events and others. Since these events were in remote locations, I needed a camping rig that allowed me to drive until I was just too tired to continue, and then craw in the back for a nap, all while keeping my race bike safe and secure inside the van. Here are a few pictures I snapped on a trip to an ISDE qualifier event.

From the front:

From the rear:

Pits support was provided by a sponsor once I arrived, but the van was still my home for the entire trip. It was insulated, carpeted and included a 1500 watt inverter to run the microwave, TV and other assorted electronics. Didn't have a bathroom because of the room required for my bike and the trade off for racing essentials like extra wheels/tires, nitrogen tank, etc, but I managed. A trailer was out because of the lower speed limit required while towing ANY trailer in certain parts of the country, as there was a big difference between 70 mph and 55 mph on a 2000 mile trip.

professorkx,

Wow! You had it all in that van, but didn't you worry that if you ever got in a collision that all that weight in the rear would come flying forward and take out the driver's seat?

:frightened:
