The grass is always greener some where else, or is that the snow is always deeper or whiter?

As long as you have white snow, it's always good.

I may have to rethink my project in favor of a new TV and Trailer. And the philosopy below it is starting to make sense.

Bob, you have lost your avatar. Did you notice? It happened to me earlier and I had to start from scratch with it.

Do you think we could soup up the engine?

Avatar is there?

There is always a way to soup that up. Might take a while to go somewhere!

on the problem of the tailgate hitting the top of the jack, here is the solution I use. I have pulled by td over 30,000 miles with this extender. Be careful, it does make one hell of a shin cracker!

I have thought about those. They sure would be the easiest to install versus re-positioning the jack system. I have one concern to get over and that is the added load, if any, of the existing receiver attachment bolts or welds. Maybe there is none. But the moments of torque numbers are what I want to consider. And I guess I could look at the way the existing receiver is connected to my F150. Welded or Bolted. Either way, would I want to consider add another weld bead?

And a simpler yet solution for me would be to get a slide in hitch unit with the holes there for my trailer. I do not need any rise at all. And if the receiver slide in unit could have the holes made for normal and extended use, I would only need one bar. I do not know.....just something for me to think about.

Thanks for the suggestion.
Bob

Bob, can you describe the dual hitch? Do you mean one above the other or the long bar with dual holding holes for the pin?

The extension acts like a lever though. The same weight placed farther back will make the truck settle more.

That's one "con" for their use.
That is what I was referring to with the "moment of torque" comment above.

For my tailgate/trailer leveler jack problem and to avoid spending the welding and application time (and money), I believe I will go with the solution of using an extension bar. If I buy one of the bars shown below, drill another hole in the hitch mounting area (to make the bar reach adjustable) and weld a 3/4 to 1" bar for the ball, it will solve my problems and not require any work on the trailer.

Raw Bar

Then weld a ball mounting plate like this one. It also bring the ball height up a bit hopefully to offset the leverage result of lowering the truck hitch height result.
And just to satisfy my paranoid fears, drill a hole through the plate and bar and add a heavy duty nut and bolt.

Thanks razorback for bringing this concept back into my thought process.

I have the "one above" the other. I used it with my Teardrop but haven't for the CT yet.
