I'm supposed to leave for Red Lodge this afternoon or evening. Beartooth Pass Rally and Iron Horse Motorcycle Rodeo this weekend. Poker run over the pass to Cody and back to Red Lodge Friday. Saturday 250mi, 7 bar run to Roscoe, Colombus, Absorokie, Rockville, Edgar, Fromberg, Bridger, Belfry. Then Pig races at Bearcreek Sat. nite. Iron Horse Rodeo Sunday. Gonna help a friend with some branding and fix a few things for him Mon. Home Tues/Wed?
We will just see how it goes. If I make it out of here sometime before Midnight I'll consider that a win!
Yee Haw! Let 'er buck!

Sounds like a lot of fun packed in there. Enjoy and ride safe! :thumbsup:

Thanks Hank... starting next June I will have a lot more control over my time. It is disappointing, but I am ever thankful for my job. Pays the bills well and allows me to buy a few toys here and there. :)

I have it down pretty good! Usually just clothes, food, a motorcycle, and throwing bins of camp gear in the back of the pickup. Still a bummer when the prospect of a weekend of camping and riding turned into about 20hrs of a work add on for an already long week. It is all good. I have weeks like that and others aren't so bad. Weeks like this make me appreciate the easier ones more and treasure my leisure time. :thumbsup: :thumbsup:

Hey Don,
Made it back from the Iron Horse Rodeo in one piece, mostly. Thought you might like to see some of the pics of the Beartooth Pass. The summit is at 11,000 ft., well above the timberline. In June there was approx. 20 ft. of snow at the top. It's just about gone now. It's an amazing ride. Hope you can make it during your great adventure out west.

This is the Montana side looking north towards Red Lodge.

This is the Wyoming side looking south towards Cody.

And this is a rare sighting of the North American Western Yeti. If you see one, feel free to feed him.

McD, Howdy;

What are the "Special" treats that Western Yeti is inclined to accept???
Need to know these types of things so as to not disrupt it's fine tuned
dietary requirements.

Hi McDave... glad you made it back. Must have been a great ride. That is some beautiful country out there! Surely want to see that. Last time I was at 11,000 ft., I ended up with altitude sickness in the middle of the night.. long story.. but I did everything textbook wrong coming from sea level.

I was told by a Park Ranger once.. never feed the wildlife... not sure if that included the illusive Yeti. :thumbsup: :thumbsup:

Hey Don and Hank,
While little is known about the Western Yeti's diet in the wild, there is strong evidence to believe he prefers any type of cured meats such as bacon, pepperoni, ham, cappacola, salami as well as any type beef or game jerky. Deep fried protein of any kind is also a favourite. One word of caution, NEVER EVER feed a Yeti tofu or any soy based product. They become enraged and start throwing anything at hand while howling and shrieking. You don't want to be around for that!

McD, Howdy;

Truly sounds like a monster that could be clothed in Black tie and tails and be found
Puttin' on the Ritz. While small children should be warned of the beast they should
also be taught to respect it's place in society and to not anger it.

Looking good bro. I don’t mind disconnecting from everything when I head out on a trip though

On the way to Robbinsville NC Iron Horse Saloon to start the first leg of the Smokey Mt. 500 dual sport ride tomorrow AM. Not taking the CTC this time
Staying in cabins, so just put the KTM690R in the back of the truck for the 10 hour drive north.

Should be an adventure :-)

Good Luck, Don.
Bring it all home in one piece. Ride hard, Ride fast, Ride smart.
Hey, there seems to be a lot of "stuff" going on in the handle bar region of your scoot. What's all that about?

Good morning McDave. Thanks. Hope to have a good time today and for the next few.

On the bars, there is a lot there. The mirrors are folded down for travel which is most of what you see right away, and there are two RAM mounts. One mount for the smart phone and one for the GPS. We are navigating off GPS tracks on the route patched together from forest roads, trails, and dirt backroads.

Then there is the Scotts steering damper (gold color at base of handlebars) I installed with the triple clamp mount. The steering damper mount has vibration isolation boots to keep the vibrations from the handlebars. The vibrations kills my wrists after a long day if they have to take the beating. Guess I am getting old. :-(
