Looks good. I just have to look on with envy because insulation under my rig is just not gonna happen. Some carpet, maybe pad, and I'm done. So when the painting is all done, what's next? Maybe #3? I know I keep having visions of a completely insulated winter rig. :thinking:

Don did you use copper or flexible line for your propane lines. I am going to mount the bottle on the tongue and need to run the propane line to the stove which is about 9 feet from the tongue and the suburban water heater about 17 foot from the tongue. My plan was to run it through the floor joists (5 inch metal) and go up to each appliance. Let me know what you thoughts are on running propane lines.

One of the other members did some propane plumbing a little bit back,
viewtopic.php?f=42&t=60663&start=60
also Incofabu8 did som as well might check out his build too. Theirs covered
some distance I'm not sure if Don's did but he's got sound ideas as well.

I used a flexible rubber line I got out of the Donor Camper to a "T" and then to a copper flex line to oven and a valve and copper tubing to the Hot Water Heater. I came off the propane tank with the regulator and the hose was ~5ft. I just ran it under the front and through the floor. Very simple since I only had two appliance to connect and the are both inches from each other and probably less than 4ft from propane bottle. I wrapped the hose outside on the tank with a type of rubber tape I use on coaxial cable to protect it from UV's.

If I were to have to run it to the back or further down the sides I would have built a pipe manifold to distribute like others have done. The camper I got the hardware off of was like that, but the rubber flexible hose went to the manifold anyhow. In my case, I am going through a 6ft hose to a "T" and then another couple feet to each appliance. It all seems to work well.

For safety use metal only by default, black iron or copper.

Flexible hoses only if actually needed, e.g. appliance gets moved around in use, and then only for the last minimum length.

And the latter need to be very regularly inspected, leak-tested and replaced.

ris, Howdy;

The rubber hose that Don (flboy), mentioned is designed to be used with propane
systems. They have an interior collapsable inner lining that protects the system
in the event of a sudden rush of propane like a regulator failure. Here are some to
think about. The ones with the Green knob are the Pigtails with the Safety feature.
(Just an example I've no connection with any parts house except as a customer!)
https://www.pplmotorhomes.com/parts/ele ... 1/pigtails

https://www.pplmotorhomes.com/parts/ele ... 1/lp-hoses

an some stuff to connect everything;

https://www.pplmotorhomes.com/parts/ele ... 1/fittings

Also, use Teflon tape at the connections NOT the White get the YELLOW for gas systems.

Yes it is.. and most metal pipes systems I have seen are fed with this type hose.. never seen pipes hooked up to the LP tank and regulator on an RV anyway.

Got the spray foam in. When it sets up well, I will trim of excess with a razor and tape the middle seam. This stuff is so messy! The long beads are not really filling much of a void, but along with the liquid nails glue and surface tension, it should hold up the foam by creating a ledge of sorts. That is what I am thinking anyway since it weighs almost nothing and just need to keep the wind or etc. from grabbing it. :-)

This 2in. foam should give me R10 in the Floors. I have R10 in the ceiling, R10 in the ramp,and R5 in the walls plus an Air Gap and the plywood interior walls. I guess this is as good as it is going to get for insulation in my CTC.

No that lining is to prevent the propane from dissolving "oil" out of the rubber, clogs up jets and fittings - why Buddy sells line filters.

And my statements about flex vs fixed pipes still apply, just because relatively few people get blown up each year is no reason to ignore widely known safety guidelines.

Black vs Green vs Red knobs signify maximum BTU capacity.

All modern QCC Type 1 valves have safety features, but again, follow what I said about flex hoses.

Also be aware there are huge quality differences among fittings manufacturers, too much Chinese junk to make shopping based on price safe, propane is not an area to pinch pennies.

I stick to Rego gear.

Finally won an Auction on E-bay. I got a brand new Flowjet Macerator for $155.00 with free shipping. Sweet! Saved about $100. This will be nice to have. Will be able to dump at home and open up a lot of options when boon-docking for extended periods of time. Any reason why you can't pump your BW tank into a vault toilet out in the middle of no where? Any laws against that? Would be virtually no different than if I was staying there and using it the whole time anyways?

Happy that you quoted my statement, I see where I got ahead of myself.

When I referred to the inner lining I was thinking of the Pigtail hoses that connect the
propane cylinder to the 2 stage regulator. These have the Green knob that twists onto the
OPD (Overfill Protection Device) that is installed into the top of the cylinder.

OK, found a nice 100 pg. document dealing with both US and Canadian basics and regulations
regarding Propane, this is book 5 of a series. Book 1 is the Intro from the RVIA
http://code3rv.com/wp-content/uploads/2 ... uction.pdf

Book 5;
http://code3rv.com/wp-content/uploads/2 ... -small.pdf

May I direct your attention to the top of pg. 4 sub-section 5-1.1.1.3 Fuel piping systems.

Also I'd like to direct you to sub-section 5-2.3.6.3 on pg. 26.

Again, thanks for pointing out my "Mis-speak" as noted above and there is nothing wrong
with using tubing that was designed and built for use with a LP system.

May I add that if this conversation is to continue that we move it to another location and
stop the hijack of flboy's thread.

Have a 3 night camping/riding trip planned to ONF Thursday AM thru Sunday. Getting the equipment loaded today so I do not have to mess with it after work this week. Just need to load food into the fridge and add clothes. I already have the water tanks filled. The weather in the forest looks to be ideal. High 70s in day and low 50s to high 40s at night. Will be near perfect. Just cool enough to have a campfire.

My neighbor is away, so I can use his driveway. It is nice to be able to pull it around front to load up and hook up. I can do it in my own driveway, but then it is more difficult to get cars in an out of the garage, etc..

flboy, Howdy;

I had a start ( :shock: ) when I opened this post, the bottom pic. from your post was there with what looked like snow (spit),
around the bases of those garbage containers. Must be some of that 'sugar sand' some parts of the Sunshine are known for.
