Converting Cargo Trailers into TTTs

That's ok, I rode the DRZ to hardware for 2 bolts for it. About 42, and damp, but not raining while I rode.
But I got conned on the used rear rack I was installing. It's been bent, no longer follows the fender. But goes up on an angle. Hope I can use a bench press and bend it back into shape. It does bolt up fine so I don't want to mess that up.

I took some time this afternoon to adjust the hitch after the axle flip. I think I got it right. The truck looks level with the load. In any case, I think the lift I got was more like 5 inches. I am very happy with the clearance now. We will see how it tows with the changes at highway speeds when I got to ONF Wednesday evening.

flboy, Howdy;

One way to check the 'level' of your tow vehicle is to measure the height of the wheel wells,
before and after hooking up to the trailer.

Nice looking ride. My first couple of bikes were Kawasaki Enduro/Trail bikes that I rode to work and on the trails whenever I could. I really, really enjoyed trail riding. Just got hard to find anywhere to ride that wasn't on someone's property. Have fun.
Smart enough to know that I still have a lot to learn.

Do you always tie the back of your bike down? I have never had a need unless I didn’t have a solid tire block.

I do. Going down long washboard dirt roads and hitting bumps and such, I have had the backend walk around a bit and rub other things. The opposing straps prevent that. I also put one strap from rear tire to forward hook to crank the front tire into the chock since it is the type that doesn't capture the back of the tire. It can't go in any direction. Since I can't see it back there I really want to make sure it does not come loose and really tear up the inside of the trailer or other gear.

Fair enough. I have been rolling and open three slot bike trailer for years and haven’t had anything come out of the little channels. Wondering about adding something like that to my build to locate rear tires. I plan on being able to hold five or six bikes when finished though

I really like the lift you got for your trailer. I'm not planning on doing a lot of off road camping in our trailer, but that is one thing that I wish I would have got done on our rig. I have already found one place that I've been several times in the pickup truck but noticed that I would be unable to haul my trailer into the area because of my lower clearance. Not much to do except listen to a little ZZ Top's Low Rider... over and over...
Your rig looks great and should give ya that extra clearance when you come to the eventual washout or creek bed crossing. Enjoy! :thumbsup:

Thanks... I have actually had issues where the hitch (load bars) has dragged going in and out gas stations where they had rather sudden grade changes. The extra lift should help those situations also.

ZZ Top apparently never recorded Low Rider even though some ole geezers like myself have been given 'em credit for it ever since I was a knee-high. War is the group that deserves the credit. ZZ Top has got the car, but War has the rights to the song... Now, if I could just get that song out of my head with those silly horns :-)
