Hi Harry. I am not sure what Lexus thinks yet. I'll be getting her acclimated soon. Thanks for the reminder on the sign. That is a great idea and something I did not think about. Many thanks.

I see it is a static cling type of sticker.. Is this something you only put on the window when you are away and the dog is inside? I assuming you don't leave it on always? Also, then is this an advertisement I am away? Most cases I will just be inside a store or restaurant and she in the parking lot. No way I'd leave her in there for many hours while I am out running around. Thoughts? Maybe just a guard dog sticker on the window?

Yes, you would put it on window while you are away; designed to be removable. Guard dog sticker could do; the main thing is you want someone to know your pet is in there.

 ..... Let's say the electricity goes out or generator quits working and something has happened to you while you are away. Just something to consider; I certainly don't want anything to happen to either of you. I have just seem people leave there pets behind in vehicle for longer than anticipated and would certainly break in if I needed to rescue the pet.

Absolutely, I understand the concern.. I am with you on that.

If the area has cell signals, which it should because I'd only see leaving her for any length of time while I am in a town to shop and eat, I can have a remote camera on and I can make sure the thermometer is in view.

It would only be summer months where that would be a concern.

I wonder what other folks do?

flboy, Howdy;

I was fortunate with Rascal, also we tended to 'Live' where we'd roost.
I could leave him tied out (3/8" braided rope), and he'd generally just
creep under the trailer for the shade and I'd leave him a bowel of water.
I have skirting around the base of the RV but left a hole next to the steps
so he could "keep an eye on things". Never had any problems and some of
the neighbors would always come by and socialize with him when I was gone.
I know different circumstances but that's how he and I would choose to go about it.

Thanks Hank. I am just going to take it as it comes. Should not have to leave Lex often.

Well, got to finish the truck bed slide this week. Been dragging my feet too long on this. I have two more full days of work to the end of a 37 year career, then I hit the road for a few months a week from now.

Have the slide rails done. 13 bearings per rail for 39 total.

I need to screw them down onto the bottom of the slider, then put the tracks on the base for the bearing to run on. Drilling the 78 holes in the correct spot with hand drill for the bearings took the most time. I will have some pics when I am done later this week.

Looks nice, Don! :applause:

I don't think I have the patience to hand-drill that many holes and for sure couldn't have done it accurately.

Thanks... It did test my patience... and in this case, precision was not absolutely required.. Good thing" good enough" was all that is needed. I do sometimes wish I had a machine/woodshop available to me.. I could do much better work with better tools.

I bought 2 12ft pieces of the 1 inch wide transition threshold and used Liquid Nails to hold it down since it will be used as a track/roll surface and it cannot have screw bumps.

The threshold upside-down makes a good track with a lip on either side the bearings should not try to jump. It provides a lot better surface to roll on than plywood which was already getting track marks when I put a few hundred pounds on the slide. So the base and tracks are painted and just drying.

Will make a small video and post when installed and packed up. This will make accessing the up front space in the truck bed much easier. I will be using all the space in the truck bed as I hit the road for Sturgis Tuesday.

I repurposed an old towel rack I had for a pull handle. I just cut it down a bit.

It rolls almost too easy;however, I am going to need something to make the transition and support the rails on the tailgate. Need to give that a thought .

It rolls in with gravity on my slanted driveway.

Ok, problem easily solved with a 2*4. Cut three 24" pieces (one for each rail) . They are the perfect height and the rollers hit them. No need for track as most the weight will be still on the base ( I still have some I can glue on if I decide to later). They also stow easy in the wheel well pocket. I am going to go with it. In reality, this will not slide in an out on regular basis. The least used items like extra propane, Jack, Heavy tools, and etc. will go way in the back. The things I will access often will be right up front (closet to tailgate in this case). I just don't want to have to remove things and crawl back in there when I need them. I did not give up much interior bed height to make this work. Only a few inches. Worth it for me.

Getting everything loaded up and checked out. Will be the longest voyage yet with the CTC and truck.

Officially retired yesterday... kinda bittersweet to walk away... but it is done. Now the adventures start.
